Dr. Mervin C. Yoder serves as the Director Emeritus for the Indiana Center for Regenerative Medicine and Engineering at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Indiana University. His laboratory has long been interested in origins of blood and endothelial lineages during embryogenesis and the remarkable ability of hemogenic endothelium to generate a variety of blood cell lineages and states including stem cells. He has more recently focused his attention on understanding the mechanisms that permit replacement, repair, or regeneration of the vascular endothelium and has developed assays to identify stem and progenitor activity in the endothelial lineage. He has published more than 300 papers, reviews, and book chapters and continuously held NIH funding for 23 years. He has served on numerous NIH study sections and is on the editorial board of 6 journals currently including Cell Stem Cell, Stem Cells, and ATVB.
